Festival Indonesia is proud to present The Balinese Princess & The Funky Monkey – The Musical as part of their Indonesian programme for 2011. This show gives children, students and families a fantastic opportunity to learn a bit more about the Balinese culture. Written by Indonesian playwright Lela McGregor, this first class musical will be performing as part of Festival Indonesia.
It was fantastic to be on the front cover of the The Age Weekend Lift-out! e arrived with our Director Lela McGregor at the location shoot in 40 degree heat. Whew…The photoshoot was amazing and The Age captured a great photo at the St Kilda Botanic Gardens with the magnificent backdrop of the historical palm trees. A little bit of tropical paradise in the heart of Melbourne. That’s us on the front. Stephan Lagoulis and Peronel Taylor!!!

Balinese Princess : Me and my Father - The King
What a Great Opening Show! So many boys and girls! Kids dancing everywhere and I love signing autographs.
Only 6 more shows to go! I am going to be so sad when it all ends and have to go back to Bali. I love Melbourne!
See you soon, Princess Ayu
Princess Ayu and Kren love Australian Art
Princess Ayu and Kren were very fascinated by the wonderful and colourful traditional Australian Art they found in the heart of the city. They were told that the artworks were called “Grafitti”.
Balinese Princess Ayu and Kren are amazed how the paparazzi caught them riding the No.8 Tram to the city. “We tried to stay inconspicuous so we wore our plainest clothes so we wouldn’t attract any attention” says Princess Ayu!
Getting ready for New Year’s Eve fireworks! Bring on 2011! Woohoo!!
Royal Princess Ayu and Kren the Funky Monkey were most delighted to meet Santa Claus…..even though he was a bit stiff.
Kren was so delighted by Santa, he left his banana for him to have for afternoon tea. Lucky Santa !
Princess Ayu and Kren touched down in Melbourne with a little over 1 month to go till the premiere.
Kren fights over his last banana with Yarra Tram Inspector. Did he really think he could pay the Tram Driver with a banana?
Lucky Princess Ayu saved the day!
Saturday rehearsals……its great to sit down and unwind!
After a morning of Balinese stances and dancing…..twisted fingers and toes its really been a long day!
